FAQ

Questions, answered

How working with an AI production house actually goes.

dotMD is an AI production house in Cairo. Below are the questions brands, artists and agencies ask before a first project, answered plainly. Anything else: sales@dotmd.tech.

About dotMD

What is dotMD?

dotMD is an AI production house based in Cairo, Egypt. We make ad films, music videos, fashion films, product visuals, social content and album artwork for brands and artists in Egypt, Saudi Arabia and the UAE. Nothing is filmed: every frame is generated, then edited, graded and mixed like a real production.

Where are you based and where do you work?

We are in Cairo and we work with clients across Egypt, Saudi Arabia and the UAE, and the wider Gulf. Everything happens remotely, with phone numbers in Egypt, KSA and the UAE, so there is no difference between a client in Cairo, Riyadh or Dubai.

What does an AI production house do?

The same job as a production company, without the shoot. We take a brief, write and storyboard the film, then generate every scene with AI video and image models, and finish it with editing, colour, sound and voice. You approve the storyboard before production and the cut at the end.

Who do you work with?

Brands, artists, record labels and the agencies that serve them: music, fashion, food and coffee, beauty and fragrance, real estate, hospitality, tourism, retail and tech. Agencies also use dotMD as a white-label production partner.

The work

What can you make?

Ad films and TV commercials, music videos and teasers, fashion and lookbook films, product videos and product photography, social media reels and posts, and album artwork with canvas loops. See the services pages for each.

Does it look AI-generated?

Not when it is directed. We decide the camera, the light, the continuity and the sound before anything is generated, then edit and grade by hand. You pick the look in the brief: realistic, stylised, animated or surreal. And you see every scene on the storyboard before production, so the look is agreed, not guessed.

Do we need to film anything?

No. If a real person appears, we work from clear photos and a few seconds of footage you already have, with their written consent. Everything else is generated.

Can you keep our product exactly as it is?

Yes. We work from clear photos of the product from every angle and keep the shape, colours, label and text unchanged. Only the world around it is built.

Can a real person appear in the film?

Yes, with their written consent and clear photos: a founder, a spokesperson, a model or an artist. Otherwise we cast AI actors to your description.

Which languages do you work in?

Arabic and English. Voice-over in Egyptian, Gulf or Classical Arabic, or English. Briefs and approvals can happen in either language.

Process and timing

How does the process work?

Four steps. Brief: tell us the idea in a call, an email or the form on this site. Storyboard: you approve every scene on paper. Production: we generate, edit, grade and add sound. Delivery: 16:9, 9:16 and 4:5 cuts plus stills.

How long does it take?

Concept to final film in about nine working days. A teaser, a set of product stills or a single cover takes less. If you have a fixed date, say so in the brief and we plan the approvals around it.

How many approvals and revisions are there?

Two approvals: the storyboard and the final cut. Changes happen on the storyboard, which is why there are no reshoots. If something in the cut needs adjusting, tell us and we fix it.

What do you need from us to start?

The idea, clear photos of the product or the person if there is one, your logo and brand guidelines, where the film will run and when you need it. The brief form on this site takes about ten minutes.

Which formats do you deliver?

16:9 for YouTube, TV and screens; 9:16 for Reels, TikTok and Shorts; 4:5 and 1:1 for feed; plus stills. All from the same production.

Cost and rights

How much does an AI ad film cost?

It depends on the length, the number of scenes, the formats and whether a real person or product has to be matched. Because there is no crew, location, travel or reshoot, it costs a fraction of a traditional shoot. Send the brief and you get an exact quote within one working day. The first call and the quote are free.

Who owns the film?

Usage is agreed in the brief before production: where the film runs, for how long and under which brand. You tell us whether dotMD may show the work in its portfolio, and we respect that.

Do you work with agencies?

Yes. Agencies in Egypt, Saudi Arabia and the UAE use dotMD as a white-label production partner behind their own campaigns and content calendars. Write to sales@dotmd.tech.
